It's your right to be anonymous and your responsibilty to know how to be secure when browsing the web.
Here are some great topics to help you educate yourself about online security.
What others know about you when you go online?
Your computer says many things about you the very minute you connect to the internet without you ever knowing.
Proxy Server
A proxy server is a server that retrieves Web pages for you, providing only its own identity to the sites you visit through it. Requested data goes first to the proxy server, then to the source, and then the data is transmitted back to you through the proxy.
Usually, they are used to increase the effective network speed of your connection to the Internet because they save information and files that are requested by many users in a special database what is called "cache". When you retrieve pages behind proxy, the proxy server first looks into "cache" and if the same information is found you will get it directly from the server because it's previously stored in "cache". There are many other good reasons to use a proxy though. You have the right to remain anonymous online and a free online web proxy is the simplest way for even the most casual computer users.
Anonymous proxy servers hide your IP address and hide information about you and your interests from the end site you're browsing. Besides that, anonymous proxy servers can help in the cases when, for example, the owners of the Internet resource force some limitation on users from certain countries, cities, geographic regions or even restrictions on some ip address ranges.
Anonymous Surfing
Of all the activities the Internet offers, browsing web pages is probably the last thing many folks would consider hazardous. Web-surfing is not without threats to internet privacy and every visit to even the most innocent seeming Web Site may be a risk to you because everything is automatically recorded for analyzing purposes or worse, for direct intent to mine your personal information to prosper or attack. Some Web servers can be set up by their webmasters and administrators with malicious intention to "grab" your E-mail address and other info from your browser. This capability is often used to put your name on spammers lists. It can also be used to logs and keep track of exactly who visits a Web site. An anonymous proxy server together with knowledge of spoofing HTTP variables can prevent this malicious spammer activity along with sniffing your real ip address and other informations from prying webmasters.
Hide IP Adresses
You can lose your online privacy simply by visiting a Web site. Every connection on the web from one machine or server to the next hands over an IP address to the next in the chain. By using a proxy server you are putting the proxy server between you and any other connections thereafter.
Your IP can show a great deal of information about you such as your Country, State and can even be as specific as to locate your address. Your IP address is vulnerable to unscrupulous hackers, who may use it to gain access to your Personal details and even your computer. Furthermore, web sites can automatically exploit security holes in your system using some ready-made free hacking programs. Some of such programs may just hang your machine, making you reboot, but other, more powerful ones, can even get access to the content of your hard drive. What a web site may need for that is only your IP address and some information about your operating system. Hide your IP Address from prying eyes and protect your online privacy with our help and free proxy servers list.
Security Software and Firewalls
Security software scans your computer for malicious code called trojans and viruses but does nto usually prevent them from getting on your computer in the first place.
Firewalls that are sometimes included with other programs or by them selves, work by monitoring all incoming and outgoing connections through your computer. Inorder to send or recieve any information online you must have an IP address and a port that can send/recieve HTTP requests. Firewalls work by monitoring all incoming and outgoing connections through this port. However this does nothing to actually block your IP from being displayed to all sites you connect to.
